Plot: Malie gets a call from the hospital that her mother is critically ill and only have a few hours left. Stuck in traffic, Malie fails to arrive at the hospital before she dies. According to Chinese traditions, souls remain on earth for 7 days before they make their journey to heaven. During this period her spirit is worried about her daughter and haunts her. Malie, already stressed because of work, boyfriend, and her estranged relation with her mother when she was still alive quickly gets annoyed of her mother's incessant preaching even in death. As the 7th day approaches however and her mother's spirit is ready to leave, Malie eventually realizes the significance of her mother's love for her.—James Hu
