Synopsis: Michael TaBon had three strikes against him: he was black, young, and poor. Like one out of three men in his community, Michael was caught in the revolving door of the prison system since he was sixteen years old. His ex-con father taught him about drugs and crime, and those lessons landed him in prison for 15 years. He initially saw it as his inherited destiny, until he had a revelationthat he could break the cycle of the womb to prison pipeline gripping marginalized communities across black America.Seven years after being released from prison, now married with a pregnant wife and a young son, Michael (now called OG-L.A.W.) is a dedicated public servant in his North Philadelphia neighborhood. He visits colleges and juvenile detentions centers, participates in demonstrations, and walks the streets in a prison orange jumpsuit and chains, sharing his experiences and trying to save the next generation from being trapped in the system like he was. He wants to be a role model for his little boy, but years of incarceration have left him with some invisible scars that often cloud his judgment, and his fierce commitment to community work leads his wife to sometimes accuse him of caring more for strangers than his own family. Fight Hate with Love explores what happens when a mans desire to be a hero for the world is at odds with his desire to be a hero to his family.
